Finding the perfect jacket should be simple — and we’re here to make it effortless. At JacketTrend, every piece is crafted with attention to detail, and choosing the right size ensures you get the comfort, style, and fit you deserve.
Whether you’re shopping for yourself or gifting someone special, this guide will help you measure accurately and pick the ideal size with confidence. All our products include a detailed size chart on their individual pages.
How to Measure Yourself Correctly
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- A non-stretch measuring tape
- A pen and paper
- A friend to assist (recommended for accuracy)
- A fitted T-shirt or innerwear (avoid bulky layers)
Stand naturally. Don’t puff your chest, tuck your tummy, or force posture — natural stance gives accurate measurements.
Measurement Breakdown
1. Neck
Wrap the measuring tape around the base of your neck.
Leave space for two fingers for comfortable breathing.
2. Shoulders
Measure from the edge of one shoulder, across the back of your neck, to the edge of the other shoulder.
This defines the jacket’s frame.
3. Sleeves
Place the tape at the shoulder tip and measure down to your wrist bone.
Keep your arm relaxed for best results.
4. Biceps
Measure the fullest part of your upper arm without tightening the tape.
5. Chest / Bust
Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest while keeping it level and snug — but not tight.
This is the most important jacket measurement.
6. Natural Waist
Locate the narrowest part of your torso — usually just above the navel.
Measure around it comfortably.
7. Lower Waist
Measure the widest point around your lower abdomen, close to your belly button.
Useful for longer jacket styles.
8. Center Back
Measure from the base of your neck (center back) down to your waist or desired jacket length.
9. Hips
If the jacket length reaches your hips, measure around the fullest part of your hips.
10. Wrist
Measure the narrowest part just above the wrist bone.
11. Sleeve Inseam
Wearing a well-fitted jacket, measure from the armpit seam down to the sleeve hem.
